Just wanted to say Hi and introduce myself. Im from the Charlotte NC area, been panning and sluicing here and there, getting mostly very fine stuff but also a few pickers (which seem to always be grouped near each other). To be honest though, Im not sure which I like more, the actual prospecting, or the design and fabrication of a new piece of equipment!

Welcome man.

Everyone has their own definition of what a picker is(for example, If it weighs .10 of a gram, all the way to under half a gram..I consider it a picker. Anything around .4/gram+ I call a nugget). What size would you say they are?(just curious)

There are alot of folks who will go out of their way to help ya out. I hope you find that next record size nugget Very Happy. If you do....please return it to me so I can get it to the right people, lol Shocked Wink.

Sounds like a chalenge to figure out how to post photo's... Smile My pickers propably a combination of flakes 1/16 at the small end to a few pieces just that I would call a small nugget. no clue how best to measure them to determine their actual size.

Found this one plus 2 others withing 12 in of each other on the downstream side of a tree behind root. all were within 2 in of surface on clay with sand overburden. tree is growing on a shelf 1 ft above normal high water and the rest of the bank goes up about 12 feet. additionally there is a restriction 40 ft upstream folowed by a gradual elevation drop of about 5 ft till it levels off at the tree. the other two pieces are; one is almost an identical twin in size and shape the other is a thick flat chunk about 1/2 this size and almost square.
