Im in rock hill now. Going to hit a new spot tomorrow.
ERRRRRR I checked out a creek today and found a quarts vein. largest
i have ever seen 6ft+ wide! I was shaking! shot back to the truck grabbed shovel and pan. went back and dug all around it all day!.... how does a 6ft quarts vein only produce 2 flakes? Ive found 6 inch viens and found 10 or 20.... im so confused... I started doubting my panning skill till the 2 baby flakes showed up.... OH and no black sand. 12 pans and maybe 4 tea spoons. HOW DID THE QUARTS GET THERE!?!?!!?!? ug.... oh well i did have a moment to stop by the spot im going to try tomorrow. BLACK SAND GALORE! thank you baby jesus. will report in tomorrow. |

White quartz produces pretty rocks. Nasty, crudy, rotten, heavily mineralized quartz produces minerals (Gold).
Ugly is good!

Not the end result but a update.
Well I hit a river on Saturday and got nothing. Panned the entire stream both sides and came up bust! did see a 6ft wide quarts vein. however very little black sand.
Sunday Drove to the spot I originally planned on hitting. I couldn't get the trommel down to the river so I river sluiced. LOTS of black sand! I did a small clean up and found A LOT of lead. but saw no gold. I plan on going threw the stuff again to make sure. I think my gold wheel may have rejected some. {Still have all my cons.
Monday, Well after sitting in the RV threw the rain storm I fired up the pc. There is a spot I have been passing off 77 and thought "That looks like a good area. After checking the elevations and information I came to the conclusion "Heck I got a free day lets go see what it has. If I get nothing Im a bit closer to home." I thought about some of the things Sam said "Ugly quarts". Arriving on site I looked around and knew this was a good call. Big ugly quarts rock everywhere! huge too! I googled info on the area for gold and came up with nothing. However as I drove in I saw active mines.... or "Concrete plants"...with sluices.... lol So I find a Trommel spot and set up. A hour later I checked the big end, BOOM three nuggets! Now my motivation was back! Bucket after bucket I fed the trommel. After about 20 buckets I was getting beat. 3 days of this and I was wore out! so I cleaned up, filled in my hole and left.
Now Im home. the "Pay end of the trommel shows about 12 good pieces. Now I have set my trommel up to check for gold in 3 spots. spot one clean up is done and there are about 12 pieces there. but holy moly... spot two... LOADED! there's so much its taking forever to clean up. 1 teaspoon of cons has about 5 flakes in it.. I have 3 GALLONS of these cons! this will take awhile.... Stage 3 I haven't even got to yet. Its in a bucket in the garage and I have no idea. So far heres the clean up results. In 3 table spoons of cons I have about 1/16th of a inch of gold in my vial. {1 oz vial} I have 3 gallons of cons from stage 2. I also have 3 gallons of cons from stage 3. |

Classify to 1/8 in and run oversize though cleanup sluice. Then do the same for the rest. Way faster than blue bowl. |

yea, im not sure why it posted as guest... I have pics of the trommel. need to set up a photobucket account. Still getting gold! ugh... im tired of doing this lol but the gold is in every teaspoon!
Sam I am using the way you showed me. the dvd helped a lot! Im recovering a lot of 70 mesh and a couple 50 mesh. Im doing about 4 teaspoons a day in my free time. got 3 gallons to go.
As far as the site admin. I use to run a dragracing forum. there is a PHP add on to allow a browse button to attach pics. let me know if interested. |

Unfortunately this site is hosted on a free forum host and they control the software. And offer no upgrades or support... It is quite old. If I had the forum on my own servers then the software would be much better. But it is established here so here it stays... Thanks for the offer though! Would like to see some of the clean-up pics as well.
