I know that this couple is not in our neck of the woods, so to speak, but they are a big part of the prospecting community in their part of the country, always helping other prospectors and asking nothing in return, now they are in dire straits themselves, I thought that maybe a donation to help them recover would be a good use of a portion of the funds raised.

Thanks for the link Skip, I saw that on another forum yesterday and thought the same thing.
My younger brother, Wick is a missionary. He and his family have been all over the world helping build churches. He is still involved with the missions but not full time now.
I asked him if he knew someone we could help out and he immediately said Evelyn Davis. She is an elderly black Pastor of a small church in a low income area of Florence where she helps everyone with their needs and does without to do so.
She has crippling arthritis and COPD as well as other ailments.
Wick wants to paint and carpet her bedroom and also is planning to give her a bed that belonged to our parents.
She told him to just take up the old carpet and paint the 'flo and she would put a little rug 'side the bed Smile

If no one objects I think these are 2 good causes. Wes

I think this is all good.

On another note: Children's homes at Christmas are another local event to all that will humble you and make tears come to your eyes. We collect toys, blankets to clothing to give to 37 kids ranging from 5 years to 18 years at a home in Anson County called Nazareth Children’s Home. They have nothing, not even parents. The wish list for one kid was a 6 pack of Coke. I had to leave the building last year because I could not let them see my tears. One older kid would not take his gifts. He just entered the home after his folks decided they did not want him anymore. I play an elf to receive all gifts when the supporters show up. It will be around two complete truck loads and everyone else (75 people+) coming in at one time with gifts. We have to guide the people to the kid's area that they bought the gift for. We sing songs, eat dinner and then let the kids get their gifts. Afterwards, the kids clean up building and go back to their rooms. All ages work together as they are the only family they have. Very emotional event to witness and highly recommend attending.

Yeah Art, I got tricked into playing Santa a few years back at my parents Church.
A little girl came up and crawled up in my lap. I asked her what she wanted for Christmas and she said she wanted her Daddy to get well and come home.
I found out a little later her father was at the VA hospital in Charleston dying with terminal cancer.
Then to top it off they hauled me to what was then called the Crippled Children's home and I had grown men and women sitting on my lap and asking for baby dolls and toys.
Never played Santa again. Crying or Very sad

I am sending a check for 200.00 to Montine and Rusty to help them rebuild,

I have donated 200.00 toward the repairs for Mrs Davis. I went with Wick to see her today and she lives in a small mobile home that is in much need of repair.
She was very appreciative for what we are doing and I got be a big ole' hug!
I am going to take the remaining 275.00 and go to Wal Mart Friday night and help pay off some lay a ways for folks I feel that could use some help.

I am happy to report I have donated all the money we raised.
I went to Walmart and paid off 5 lay a ways that the ladies in the department felt were the most needy.

Thanks Wes for all you do! You made some great choices as to where to put the money to use!

If all goes well this year prospecting, maybe we can do it again next year.
