This is the first place I went when I got interested in this hobby.
I rented the big high banker for a day and I was hooked.
I came home and built me a high banker and have had Gold Fever ever since.
I consider Bill And Tommy As friends and am treated as such.
This is not as fancy as a lot of places but it is real.
You get to see the dirt you are running as it is dug out of the ground.
And you get all you want. Wes |

I went there in July 2011. The main reason for my trip was to meet the Nugget Man. I ended up spending the day. Bill is a really nice guy. The hibankers are kind of neat. You don't have to shovel. You rinse the material from a hopper into the hibanker. I guess you could consider it hydraulic mining. I found some decent gold. I am looking forward to the upcoming outing there.

I think if I found that in my box, you all would have to call the paramedics in to get my butt. |

These are the rates at Mountain Creek, posted by Wes in the GPOC forum.
"These are the prices at Mt Creek
Panning........ 15.00
Sluicing......... 2- 5 gal buckets 15.00...5.00 per additional bucket, this material has been washed to break up the clay but has not been processed in any way to remove the gold.
Your high banker........ 35.00 for all you can run per day
His big high banker..... 80.00 for all you can run per day.... he loads this in the hopper with the backhoe so you don't have to shovel, he also helps with the clean out." |

Great place, nothing fancy, but you get the real deal, nothing salted. I had a little family outing there last spring. Best time ever! |

Sounds good I have 20'.
Well, it is confirmed, I will be heading out to Mtn Creek this Thursday! First gold trip! Have my daughter and nephew comin along both 12 and able to shovel. Will be calling Bill to see if he has one of his campers available.
In regards to my water pump. It's the 2" HF one. I will be making a manifold near the highbanker for a small garden hose hookup. Can I also put and ball valve on it to totally shut off water to the HB? Will that damage the water pump?
I also read that it is OK to neck down the discharge at the pump to 1.5" This true?
The suction hose stainer. Do I need to have a bucket thing for it to go in ?
....havent forgot about you wes... |

You can add a ball valve to shut off water just idle the pump down before you close it.
It will not hurt to neck the pump discharge to 1 1/2 ''.
Probably wouldn't hurt to have a bucket thing for the strainer, I always say I am going to use a bucket thing on mine but usually don't!
Good luck and enjoy the mud.

Going to a 1 1/2" discharge is fine but I would not put a valve on the discharge side and shut it off while the pump is running . This will cause cavitation.
You can remove the plug in the top of the pump and replace it with shut off valve to use a garden hose. I used a pvc extension and 90 with a small garden hose valve on mine. |

They have porta potties.
I don't know if Cotton Patch has toilets in there rentals but I think they have a bath house for the camp ground, you might want to give them a call.

I use a foot valve on the intake. Close the hose valve at the pump to make priming the foot valve easier. Once the pump is running open it up. I use mine for a blaster nozzle on my 2 1/2" dredge. I also use a cut off valve at the nozzle end to control the flow when in use. |
