I'd like to see some closer photos, i'm not seeing rutile on there. Definitely looks like the quartz has been etched and altered though.

These pics do it more justice. Damn camera batteries died on me..I wanted to get another shot of the many crystal clusters. I cant get the gold to show up....its hardly visible to naked eye and with my cam skills...lol. I gotta get new batteries anyway so I can get another shot of the crystals on the other side. Correct me if im wrong on this...as I know greendave and several others really know their gems and minerals . Also need to clean it up..

if you like to collect rutile you need to go to graves mountain in lincolnton, GA. they have nice crystals there but they are hard to find |

I was walking on a gravel bar and seen it. I want to get some shots of the other side...its got a ton of little rutile crystals in a cluster with no pattern. Looks cool. Thanks fellas. |

I'm gonna have to say epidote on this one. Are the crystals green and semi translucent? Rutile is a titanium oxide, and typically seen as a gun metal silver gray (think Terminator) or ruby red. I'm not seeing the metallic luster that defines rutile. Other culprits could be apatite or even beryl, but that piece looks like epidote to me.

Actually yes the crystals on the other side are a green hue and slight translucent. Wished I had took pics of those before it died. I think you are right dave. Thanks..
What is this on scale of rarity? Lol just curious |

pretty common actually. But what you need to do is keep tracking it, when you find a quartz vein that is crystallizing into water clear crystals and you have dark gemmy green rutile needles included inside the quartz...then we're talkin.....there was a very awesome pocket of that found, in a very secret location of alamance county several years ago.....randolph county is well known for quartz specimens.
