this is some of the Saphire and 2 garnets I found in Franklin with my Family . We went to Mason's mine and dug them straight out of the hill. Very good place to go . The people were very friendly and helped my army of kids alot . If you want to go find some this is the place to go !!!

Thanks for the info. I like gold, my daughter likes gems and "pretty rocks". I try to include both in our trips. I will have to check out mason's mine when I am up that way. |

Maybe 20 bucks? they have a website up . There is gold in that area also real close . On my way there I saw a little waterfall kinda thing . Not really a waterfall just a 1 inch trickle off the side of a hill . I dug some dirt from where it hit the ground and found a very little bit of flour gold in it . Well actually I had the man at the mine pan it out for me . Anyway he said farther up the road there was a place people panned . Thats all the info on the place I can recall . |

There are two Mason Mines in Franklin. Can be a bit confusing. Was this the one near the airport. That's where I've been successful in digging some saphires. |

Thats something I've planned to do several times. Trouble is once I get to NC all I can't tear myself away from the gold to look for stones. |
