Below is a native NC emerald specimen that I collected this past weekend in Mitchell County, NC. It is from a MAGMA managed property call the Crabtree Emerald Mine.
Emerald in quartz, feldspar and biotite matrix
Same piece, other side.
There are at least 5 separate crystals embedded in the matrix. |

Nice. The trick is to get them out of the matrix intact. (Assuming you even want to). |

Yep, these will stay in matrix and sit on my shelf. I found a few smaller loose crystals but most are highly fractured. There are still some good stuff there, just got to find it! |
