If anyone is a little bit leary of ordering the miracle matting because of the cost dont worry because its worth every penny. At least in a dredge it is, not sure how it would work in a sluice. Bought a piece of it for the black mat in the first stage on a 5 inch dredge and everytime we cleaned up there was tons of gold on it, the riffles are so deep in it its hard to get the gold out of it sometimes. I would say that it doubled the amount of gold caught in the first stage of the dredge. |

Here are a couple from Keene's website "Mark's News" that was sent in by a customer, and couple more posted on another forum that is closeup but are not very good pictures.

It looks like they had some uneven flow in that cleanup sluice, you can see where the current pushed the gold along the V of the water.
And about that gold, who knows where that gold comes from? That could be pictures from a commercial (that employees 500+ workers) mine's cleanup. Keene loves using pictures of lots of gold on his products, the implication being if you use this product you will have cleanups like this.
But I sure wouldn't mind having some of that mat, but at that price, I will stick to this blue matting, that cost 10$ for 2 feet.

this only comes in lengths of 36" and you buy it buy the width $8 per linear inch is a bit to much |

I agree with Bill that the Keene's matting only coming in 36" by however long a piece you need at $8 an inch is way to much to spend unless you have a commercial operation or a good spot that has a great and continuing paystreak.
If you know someone/company that will sell you some at the width you actually need it would be a different story.
Everyone that I have heard about using the matting says that it's great, but the price is out of my budget.

Me and Phil went to industrial rubber and gasket in Greenville ( http://grgasket.com/ ) to look at their samples. We picked out some grooved rubber matting in their case and asked him if he had anything with deeper grooves then that. The guy disappeared for a few minutes, then came back up front with a big 2 foot by 3 foot blue piece that had some shallow two inch cuts in one side of it. Charged us 10 bucks for the whole thing. I dont know what it is, but it seems to be really good, and it is rubberized so it really holds well. |

Hi Astro:
I think that it is conveyor belt material. They use it on industrial conveyor belts to move product through the factory. They should have put the inventory identification for the belting on the invoice that they gave you. If you post that information, then anybody should be able to go there and buy some for themselves. Looks like it will really grab the heavies real well.

That's why I said it's great for a dredge. With the miracle mat glued to the aluminum plate for a 5 inch dredge it was $42. Not too bad in my mind especially when you see a cleanup. |

Jay where did you by the mat how long is it and is it actually the keene Mat? I deal directly with Keene for all my Keene supplies and the Keene mat comes in one length 36" and my wholesale on it isn over $6.50 per inch of width
the only way i can see it being done is if someone buying it and then selling it in off in pieces in which you actually pay more for the mat for example if i got a piece 20" x 36" which would retail at $160
now i can get 6 pieces of that mat 20" X 6" out of it now at $42 a piece that comes to $252 so in all actuallity it cost you more than $8.00 an inch |
