I had Angus make me two Explorer's with an extended slick plate which I think would make a great sluice even better. I'm keeping one for my personal sluice and the next person to order gets the next one for the same price. Wink

thats the way they should be made to be honest and tell them to quit stamping angus right on the damn sample mat. Put it on the back or side but not where it counts.

Why would you need miners moss or mat with an angus sluice??? They are plastic and easy to cleanout.

Tracker,

You will learn in time, we were all newbies when we first started gold prospecting, check out as many of the older posts on this forum and start learning, and then it will be easier when you get out and start finding gold on your own.

Don't be shy, ask all the questions you need to ask, the only dumb questions are the ones you already know the answer too!!

Also try to hook up with anyone from this forum or another gold prospector sometimes and often as you can to help with the learning curve of gold prospecting, the first thing you will need to learn is how to pan, it's the one thing that you will be doing no matter how or what you use to get the gold in the beginning, such as a sluice, highbanker, or a dredge, the gold pan can be the first way to get gold if you don't have any other equipment and is almost always the final way to get the gold separated from the other heavy material in the concentrates, such as blacksands, garnet sands, etc.

I am the crazy one there Mad I don't know how I got confused but I sure did at that because you even gave me the link to what page it was on.I think I got confused when you said to get 1 1/4 and I could not find that size but now I relize I was looking at it wrong because you ment 1- 1/4, and 1- 1/8. Sorry bout that but now I have them saved to my cart.

On another note I take it I will not need any carpet or pads for an AM sluice ? Now isn't that just awesome it seems that will make life a lot easier ! I am going to have to look on Youtube for a video of it in action. I have been seeing where the angle of the sluice matters a lot but my question is would the angle be different for the kind of sluice you are using say between an AM and a Keene is it the same or should it be different ?

On angles, it varies. You will have to get a sluice and fine tune it for the material and water speed your in and that changes every time you go out. AM sluices are designed to be lightweight to carry and easy to cleanout and Shay is an exclusive dealer right here on this very forum.

Thanks Pete I guess a lot of trial and error is in store for me but that's cool I gotta start somewhere.I am going to get my equipment from Shey and I am ready to buy I am just waiting on him to respond to my PM about how best to proceed. I do want to support my local dealer and keep my $ as local as possable.I also run a small business and I keep all my suppliers as local as I can I would much rather buy from someone local than to send my $ half way across the USA or further.I am also very loyal to my vendors as I get people all the time trying to offer me better prices on parts , web services ect, ect. but I do know the grass is not always greener on the other side so when I find a honest and dependable person I stick with them. Very Happy
