Looks like an interesting story. I had read bits about that Emerald before on mindat forums, but it will be nice to hear the full story that National Geographic found out.

BTW, that emerald is barely gem quality. And the guy selling it is a fraud. It was dyed in India and comes from Brazil rough. The cut isn't even that good on it.
