Since the Angus is made of plastis and is molded, does it need to be roughed up like our pans before first use?

Definitely not! You dont want to scratch it at all. I am pretty sure they are ready to go as is.

I did not do anything to any of my MacKirk sluices, and they work fine.

Do nothing to your angus sluices. You may notice a white residue film..this is nothing to be concerned about as its from the molding but they need no kind "breaking in" like a pan or anything. Totally ready to go out of the box.

I agree. I just wash mine in soap water using Dawn to remove the mold release.

A great product and super easy to clean up.
