Hi
1st post I have been working a stream bank above and below the hardpack. I found a big pocket of vermiculite and was wondering if it was worth digging out to maybe find gem stones. Did a test pan for gold but it was a no show. Very small piece in the hardpack and above it in the clay, but not worth the digging and running. Just trying to see if it would be worth the time to dig the vermiculite.

Rubies and sapphires have been associated with vermiculite. Google [vermiculite and rubies]. |

Taggedyou: I'm not far from you & I find rubies & sapphires with either vermiculite or small mica along with a green covering that I assume is epidote attached to the outside of them. It's also possible to find rubies & sapphires with a white coating on the outside. I've also found bands or veins of vermiculite with nothing of significance so you will need to sample each to see. |
