i was wondering if a person was going to use the Expedition Sluice Box in a shallow slow moving stream could you make a plastic flair to fit it to help bring in more water??? or would it bring in too much water and not work right??? thanks

Ive seen pictures of people using a tarp in front of their sluice in really slow moving creeks to capture more water. For some reason I can't seem to fine a picture though.

Basically you cut the tarp into a rough triangle shape that will fit onto the front of your sluice and lay the tarp in the water. Hold it down with some rocks to make an impromptu weir. This way you can have a 'flair' that is more than a foot across, think 5 feet. Capture as much or as little water as you would like.

Maybe someone can find a picture if they know what I am talking about.

You can also use metal lawn edging. It has little stakes that could be driven into the bottom to hold it in the position you want. 4' is the shortest length, but it could be cut in half if you wanted. It's 4" deep. I've seem many wiers made from stream rocks to increase water flow.
